A tearful thought on the Paris tragedy
Boulevard Voltaire? A terrorist attack on a theater, Bataclan, on the road in Paris named after the French philosopher who fought for freedom of religion and expression, and the separation of religion from the state? This is tragic historical irony.
Most of the people who fell to the terrorists' bullets on Friday night were killed in the theater on the road carrying the name of Voltaire, who along with Rousseau, inspired the French Revolution, which first made "liberty, equality and fraternity" a socio-political motto.
The death toll in the night of horror is more than 125, with over 300 injured.
