Former police chief suspected in killing

The former police chief of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region has been detained on charges of killing a woman, according to local police authorities.

Zhao Liping, 64, is suspected of killing a woman "who is close to him" on Friday, Legal Affairs Evening News reported.

Zhao was also the former vice-chairman of the regional committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a position at the deputy minister level.
