Heavy investment pours into air networks
China has been witnessing airport fever as governments hope to stimulate growth through the expansion of air transport networks.
The 80 billion yuan ($13.1 billion) construction project for the new airport in Beijing marks the third approval the National Development and Reform Commission has given to local government airport projects in the past month.
On Nov 28, the top economic planner ratified the feasibility report on the construction of an airport in Rizhao, Shandong province, which is set to serve up to 900,000 passengers. It will cost 1.34 billion yuan.
