Guangzhou rejects corrupt officials' medical parole pleas

By Zheng Caixiong in Guangzhou | China Daily | Updated: 2014-12-13 08:03

Applications from 11 jailed former officials who wished to be released on medical parole have been turned down this year in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.

"After investigations and health examinations, it was determined that they did not meet the requirements for medical parole," said Deng Chaofeng, an official at the Guangzhou intermediate people's procuratorate.

"The 11 formerly held positions at county level or above. They were all sent to prison because they accepted large bribes while they were in office."
