Spending by watchdog drops amid effort to fight corruption

By Xinhua | China Daily | Updated: 2013-11-06 07:06

Spending by the Communist Party of China's discipline watchdog has dropped sharply amid a more frugal approach to work practices and efforts to tackle corruption, a report said on Tuesday.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Ministry of Supervision have cut conference expenditures for the first eight months this year by 84 percent and reception expenses by 52 percent, according to a report issued by the commission.

The agency also cut the length of time in conferences and symposiums. A nationwide conference for the agency took only 20 minutes, the report said.
