Province witnesses booming industry

Hunan is witnessing the accelerating development of industrial clusters. High-tech industries have become important economic engines for the province.

Eight industries have hit the 100-billion-yuan ($16.2 billion) line. Industries including construction machinery manufacturing, electronic information, new materials, alternative energy, and automotive enjoy comparative advantages.

The province's agriculture plays a crucial role in providing the nation's food. It has been the top province in rice production for many years, while its pig-raising industry is the second largest around China. Other agricultural sectors like oranges, tea, cotton, and freshwater aquatic products also rank among the largest nationwide.
