Analysts say major changes in DPRK policy unlikely

The recent leadership reshuffle in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea sends a signal of reform, but big policy changes are highly unlikely, analysts said on Wednesday as the country's leader Kim Jong-un was granted the title of marshal.

The DPRK wants to show relevant countries that it would like to initiate reform, so that it could be accepted by the international community, said Wang Junsheng, an expert of East Asian studies with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

"But it is still hard to say what kind of changes Kim will propose to make ... significant changes are almost impossible in short term," Wang said.
