Kenya seeks new energy partners

In line with the country's development plans and Vision 2030, Kenya aspires to pursue a macroeconomic framework anchored in the availability of adequate, reliable and affordable energy.

Vision 2030 acknowledges that Kenya's energy costs are currently higher than those of her African competitors and in order to spur growth and encourage investment in the country, Kenya has chosen to generate cost-effective electricity and increase efficiency in energy consumption.

The country has lined up generational expansion projects over the next 20 years aimed at providing 18.92 gigawatts of additional generation capacity in order to meet ever-rising power demands. There are more than 30 Chinese companies in Kenya, the majority of which deal in energy.
