Sino-German joint venture Beijing Benz Automotive Co Ltd has unveiled its new China-made SUV, the GLK 300 4MATIC Grand Edition, and the long-wheelbase E-Class at the ongoing Auto China 2012.
"The launch of the GLK-Class SUV not only shows the growth of BBAC's product portfolio," said Xu Heyi, president of the joint venture.
"It also displays our confidence and capability in competing in China's high-end auto market, and in particular, the luxury SUV segment."
The automaker brought three GLK models - the GLK 300 4MATIC Dynamic, Style and Luxury - to the show, priced from 408,000 yuan to 557,000 yuan.
All come equipped with a modified 180-kW 3.0 L V6 engine and 7G-TRONIC transmission to meet the road conditions and driving preferences in China.
The models also have the advanced 4MATIC all-wheel drive system and four-wheel electronic traction that ensure stability, safety and driving comfort even in extreme road conditions.
The introduction of the all-new E 300 L LUX is also a highlight of the show.
The E 300 L became one of the most popular luxury executive sedans since its market launch in China in 2010.
This year, the carmaker modified all its E-Class models based on feedback from Chinese consumers and introduced a whole new flagship model - the E 300 L LUX.
It features innovative safety features and cutting-edge technologies including a night view assist system and Harman Kardon Logic 7 acoustics to make the driving experience more safe and enjoyable.
The original model's three rear seats were transformed into two individual seats, offering more room for passengers.
The depth of rear seats has been extended to 544 mm, giving the sedan the largest seat area among cars of the same class.
BBAC reported its best-ever performance in the first quarter this year, almost doubling sales growth over the same period in 2011.
