China Daily | Updated: 2012-04-14 07:39

Editor's note: A commentary published on Friday by People's Daily, the flagship newspaper of the Communist Party of China, stresses the importance of observing laws and Party disciplines, after China's leadership announced a decision on Tuesday to investigate former Party chief of Chongqing municipality Bo Xilai for serious violations of discipline. Excerpts below:

People across the country, including all CPC members, have reached a consensus that everyone should willingly observe the laws and Party disciplines, the article says.

On April 10, the CPC Central Committee decided to investigate Bo Xilai's serious violations of discipline, and police announced the initial results of the reinvestigation into the death of British citizen Neil Heywood, and transferred suspects to the judicial authorities.
