Taiwan reporter impressed by mainland development
FUZHOU - For young descendants of early mainland migrants in Taiwan like Chen Chenlung, the other side of the Straits is not about nostalgia or military tension, but a neverland full of wonder and chances.
"When I first set my foot on the mainland in 2000 in Shanghai, I was shocked by the city's cloud-kissing skyscrapers and blazing neon lights," said Chen. "And now the feeling was brought back to me here in Fujian province."
Chen cannot remember which part of Fujian province his forefathers came from, but that does not stop his eagerness to explore the coastal province that was once the military front line during the lowest period of cross-Straits relations.
