From fibers to green chemistry

While the Teijin Group is known as a pioneer in fiber technology, it has now gone beyond its traditional expertise by increasing investment in China so that now it is involved in the environmentally friendly chemistry and healthcare business.

"We entered the Chinese market relatively early, back in the 1970s, beginning with the polyester fiber business. Since then, we've gone on to build production, sales, and marketing bases in Beijing, Shanghai and other major cities," said Teijin President and CEO Shigeo Ohyagi.

"In April 2010, we established the Teijin (China) Investment Co Ltd in Shanghai to back our business in China," Ohyagi added.
