China's trade with Iran 'legal'

By Zhang Ting | China Daily | Updated: 2010-08-05 07:48

BEIJING - Chinese investment in Iran isn't violating any UN resolution, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday, refuting a US arms control official's remarks on Monday that China is "taking advantage of the responsible restraint of other countries."

"China's trade with Iran is normal business exchange, which will not harm the interests of other countries and the international community," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said.

"As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has always observed the council's resolutions," Jiang said.
