Complicated ties with yao ming
Bob Donewald Jr's relationship with Yao Ming has become somewhat complicated after the American took over the national team without terminating his contract with the Shanghai Sharks.
As the national head coach he will instruct Yao, when the center is available. However he is also an employee of Yao, who owns the Shanghai club.
"Yao Ming is still my boss. I still coach Shanghai and he still owns the club," Donewald said. "Yao Ming is a player I have a lot of respect for. Actually, I consulted him a lot back in the US and he gave me some advice.
"We even had a conversation on the phone last night. He has got a brilliant basketball mind."
