Cheating of Chinese workers overseas on rise

By Qin Zhongwei | China Daily | Updated: 2010-03-30 07:53

The number of Chinese overseas workers being repatriated and cheated is increasing as people's interest in working abroad grows, warned the Beijing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection.

On March 27, three workers claimed they went to work in Europe last December and were then mercilessly cheated by unauthorized operators who instead of helping them extend their visas as promised, took their money and disappeared.

Without giving a clear figure, Zhao Guangyan, of the General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection, said police have dealt with a number of such cases in recent months in which Chinese working overseas had been cheated.
