Provincial GDP rises despite global downturn

Despite the global economic trend, Heilongjiang's GDP grew by 11.1 percent to hit 828.8 billion yuan last year, according to official statistics from the provincial government.

The northeastern province has now maintained double-digit growth for eight consecutive years.

"Big industrial projects introduced in the past several years played a key role for us to sustain GDP growth," said Li Zhanshu, governor of Heilongjiang.
