By Liu Wei | China Daily | Updated: 2010-02-12 08:05

This year's Chinese New Year's Day falls on Valentine's Day and offers a double dose of happiness for both lovers and filmgoers.

Couples hoping to spend the romantic day according to the dinner-and-a-movie formula have a variety of film genres to choose from - cartoons, kungfu epics, and slapstick and romantic comedies.

Local productions Pleasant Goat and Big, Big Wolf will compete for children's favor with Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeaquel, and a Japanese animated flick featuring the young gumshoe protagonist of Detective Conan: The Raven Chaser.
