People nowadays are earning more but find themselves less happy. Where's all the happiness gone? This is a question that many Chinese seem to be asking themselves and one that many artists are trying to interpret through their works.

Scrooge's New Year, a drama adapted from Charles Dickens' 1843 novel A Christmas Carol, and involving artists from both home and abroad, will focus on current Chinese society, exploring the changing worlds of substance, abundance and spiritual depravity.

The original story is about how the sour and stingy Ebenezer Scrooge transforms into a warm-hearted philanthropist after being visited by ghosts on Christmas Eve.
