IAEA: Nuclear 'stalemate' with Iran

China Daily | Updated: 2009-09-08 08:02

VIENNA: The UN nuclear watchdog says his agency is locked in a "stalemate" with Iran over its nuclear program.

International Atomic Energy Agency chief Mohamed El-Baradei has told the agency's 35-nation board that Iran has not suspended uranium enrichment. He says Teheran has not cleared up other lingering questions about its atomic activities.

El-Baradei urged Iran yesterday to "substantively re-engage" with the Vienna-based IAEA to prove there are no military dimensions to its nuclear program.
