Armed police deployed for National Day

China is tightening security with tens of thousands of armed police guarding major facilities and streets during the 60th anniversary of the country's founding, which falls on Oct 1.

Several thousand Chinese People's Armed Police Force (PAPF) troops will make security checks, and guard against and handle any terrorist attacks in Beijing, which will be the center stage of the celebrations scheduled around National Day.

The PAPF has selected elite members from its rapid response units to guard the capital.
