Shares edge up led by commodities, financials

The mainland stocks rose, with the benchmark index climbing from a four-week low, as commodity producers and financial companies gained on speculation recent declines were excessive relative to earnings prospects.
The Shanghai Composite Index gained 27.84, or 0.9 percent, to 3140.56 at the close, erasing an earlier 1.7 percent decline. The index plunged 4.7 percent yesterday.
The CSI 300 Index added 1.3 percent to 3440.82 yesterday.
