India, Sri Lanka's Perfect Melody

The Embassies of India and Sri Lanka in Beijing will jointly present a two-hour extravaganza of breathtaking melodies, titled Perfect Harmony: A Musical Journey on Saturday night at the Forbidden City Concert Hall. The Shillong Chamber Choir of India and the Soul Sounds of Sri Lanka will perform for the first time in Beijing. Their repertoire ranges from Western operatic classics to traditional folklore as well as contemporary pieces.

Founded in 2001, the Shillong Chamber Choir brings together a group of singers who wish to produce a variety of music. Its maestro and mentor, Neil Nongkynrih, is a famous pianist who studied and worked in London for 13 years, but returned to the picturesque hills of Shillong in Northeast India.

The female ensemble Soul Sounds Choir (pictured) has enthralled audiences with their passion for music and unique ability to touch the soul.
