The BRIC summit in Yekaterinburg is seen as an important step toward wider cooperation and coordination among emerging economies. Some believe the summit epitomized the increasing voice of the emerging countries on the global economic stage.

There are others who see BRIC as more symbolic than substantial. These countries are not as important to each other as the US in terms of international trade, investment, technology exchange, and etc.
