First domestic flu case confirmed

The A(H1N1) flu virus has been transmitted on the Chinese mainland for the first time, the Ministry of Health said on Friday.

A 24-year-old woman has become the sixth confirmed patient in Guangdong province. Her case is remarkable because she caught the illness in China and not overseas, as has happened with all other cases of A(H1N1) reported in China.l

The woman is a 24-year-old cosmetician who works at a photography studio in Guangzhou. She had close contact with a Chinese-American man when he and his fiance used the studio for wedding photographs on May 25 and May 26, the ministry said.
