LONDON: A British opposition lawmaker is to quit after claiming 1,600 pounds ($2,500) for a "duck island," the latest embarrassing revelation in an expenses row, his party said yesterday.
Conservative MP Sir Peter Viggers bought the wooden structure for the pond at his home in Hampshire, southern England, according to the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
"I spoke to him last night and I said you are going to announce immediately your retirement or I will remove the Conservative whip and he has announced immediately his retirement," said Conservative leader David Cameron.
