$1m in aid offered to Pakistan

China will give $1 million in emergency humanitarian aid to Pakistan to help thousands of civilians displaced by fighting between government forces and the Taliban.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said yesterday that China has taken note of Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's appeal for international aid to help more than 500,000 civilians displaced by the conflict in the country's northwest frontier province.
