Laird Beijing opts for employee investment as spur for innovation
Whilst many global electronics manufacturers have currently imposed pay and recruitment freezes on many of their employees, Laird Technologies (Beijing) Co Ltd has opted for a very different policy.
Despite many of their global competitors cutting back on employee expenditure in the light of a huge drop in demand for telecommunication products, Laird has instead opted to boost productivity by improving working conditions and investing in staff development.
Charlie Peppiatt, general manger of the Beijing-based cellphone antenna manufacturer explained the company's unusual approach: "During the past eight years, our company has evolved from a four-man-band to one that employs thousands of people. Human capital is our key asset."
