Last Sanlu assets fail to sell at auction

China Daily | Updated: 2009-04-14 07:39

SHIJIAZHUANG, Hebei: Assets from the Chinese dairy company at the center of the tainted milk scandal have failed to sell at auction.

The assets, which included shares in 11 dairy companies - seven of which were controlling stakes - were part of a court-ordered sale after Sanlu Group Co was made bankrupt last year.

Sanlu was one of 22 Chinese companies whose products were found to contain high levels of melamine, which led to the deaths of six babies and urinary problems in nearly 300,000 others.
