TOKYO: With its healthy finances and good environment, Tokyo needs no make-up when the International Olympic Committee next week inspects its bid for the 2016 Summer Games, the city's governor said yesterday.
"If you try to do something at the last minute in a state of anxiety, the gilt will eventually come off on your hands," Shintaro Ishihara said as the IOC evaluation commission wound up an inspection of Chicago overnight.
A 13-member team from the commission will arrive in Tokyo on Tuesday on a week-long visit as part of its tour of four candidate cities for the 2016 Olympics.
