China Daily | Updated: 2009-01-22 07:43

The son and daughter-in-law of former Taiwan leader Chen Shui-bian pleaded guilty to money laundering yesterday in a case linked to Chen's corruption trial, Taiwan media reported.

Prosecutors said the couple may have been involved in laundering as much as 820 million New Taiwan dollars ($24.4 million), the largest amount in the history of the province, reports said.

Chen was charged with graft, money laundering and misuse of public funds last month following a probe that embroiled his son, Chen Chih-chung, his son's wife, Huang Jui-ching, and numerous former aides.
