The military junta attempting a coup in Guinea has chosen a captain, Moussa Dadis Camara, as their leader yesterday and said they intended to install him as president.
One of the officers said Camara had been appointed head of the coup junta and was being taken to the presidency building in downtown Conakry to be installed as president.
The junta promised yesterday to hold elections in two years time, but the West African state's top civilian leader appealed to the world to prevent the takeover from succeeding.
