China Daily | Updated: 2008-12-17 07:54

TAIPEI: Taiwan prosecutors yesterday appealed to the island's high court over a lower court decision to release former leader Chen Shui-bian after his indictment on corruption charges.

Chen was released on Saturday after a month's detention, but is barred from leaving the island.

The Special Investigation Unit under Taiwan's prosecution authorities indicted the former leader on Friday after an investigation into allegations that Chen engaged in money laundering and other offenses during his term in office.
