NGO delegates call for change, harmonious world
Delegates at the 7th Asia-Europe People's Forum (AEPF) earlier this month urged leaders at the 7th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) to take action to create and implement the radical and creative solutions needed for "people-centered recovery, change and a harmonious world".
During the forum's final declaration on Wednesday, Heidi Hautala, chair of the Finnish Committee of the AEPF, called on the ASEM to implement people-centered responses to the current financial crisis, in an "effective and responsible" manner.
"We need a new type of regulation - markets don't solve problems and we need social and economic justice," Hautala said.
