Former Taiwan leader quits DPP

China Daily | Updated: 2008-08-16 07:59

TAIPEI: Former Taiwan leader Chen Shui-bian and his wife Wu Shu-chen resigned from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) yesterday.

He took the decision after Taiwan's "justice ministry" said the Swiss Ministry of Justice had sought help in an investigation into possible money laundering through the bank accounts of Chen's son and daughter-in-law.

Taiwan investigators were helping with the case, it said.
