Peace at last for missing climber

China Daily | Updated: 2008-08-08 07:52

URUMQI: The remains of a mountaineer discovered last month by researchers on Mount Bogda in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region have been cremated, local police said yesterday.

The climber had earlier been identified as Lam Chi-wai from Hong Kong, who disappeared 10 years ago, the Xinhua News Agency quoted an unnamed police spokesman as saying.

Lam's corpse was found on July 23 by researchers from the Lanzhou Glacier and Frozen Earth Institute who were on a scientific expedition 3,980 m above sea level.
