Kissinger Institute opened to promote China-US relations
An institute dedicated to promoting China-US relations and named after former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger was inaugurated in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, almost four decades after his landmark visit to China that helped build ties between the two countries.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Kissinger Institute on China and the United States, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said the center will help to "inspire more people to join in the worthy cause of advancing China-US relations and strengthen the voice of those calling for stronger relations between China and the United States".
Yang said the China-US relationship has come a long way and achieved remarkable progress over the past 30 years, with the growth of bilateral ties not only bringing huge benefits to the two countries and their two peoples, but also profoundly contributing to world peace and development.
