WASHINGTON: Likely Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and rival Hillary Rodham Clinton met privately on Thursday night to talk about uniting the Democratic Party, as pressure mounted for him to invite the former first lady to become his running mate.
Clinton has stepped aside and plans to announce in a speech to her supporters on Saturday that she is suspending her campaign and supporting Obama.
Obama said on Thursday he will not be rushed into a decision on choosing a vice-president.
