Dumping slur on steel to EU

By Jiang Wei | China Daily | Updated: 2007-10-31 07:12

Chinese steelmakers are likely to become the next victim of European trade remedy as their European rivals appeal to EU authorities to levy punitive duties on imports of two Chinese steel products.

An unnamed source was quoted by Reuters as saying the European Confederation of Iron and Steel Industries (Eurofer) would ask the European Commission for anti-dumping duties on imports of stainless steel cold-rolled flat products from the mainland, Taiwan and South Korea. Another case would be filed against hot dipped metallic coated products.

European players complain "Chinese steel exports to the EU are set to double in 2007 to 10 million tons from 2006".
