Italy in Pudong(Cityweekend)
Updated: 2007-07-23 09:46 Unless you live in Pudong, Bergamo isn't likely to be your most convenient choice, though all the elements of a first-class Italian meal are there-excellent food, an extensive wine list and a gently lit ambiance. The roast duck with fresh orange, cloves, cinnamon and an exotic Grand Marnier sauce (RMB 125) was the most intriguing of the dishes we savored, but none of the others disappointed. A rich minestrone soup (RMB 40) and rolled pasta with spinach and ricotta cheese (RMB 65) were among the best we've had. Additionally, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the paper-thin beef carpaccio (RMB 70), was as flavorful as the waiter claimed it to be. While a shared tiramisu (RMB 40) was the perfect way to end our meal, we were glad to have come before the excessively loud live entertainment began. Perfect for: romantic interludes in remote locations |
