Shanghainese cuisine within reach(That's Shanghai)
Updated: 2007-05-23 10:12 With floor-to-ceiling windows, plush seats and heavy wood paneling, Lynn makes a somewhat intimidating first impression. However, the straightforward and reasonably-priced menu gives the restaurant a more inviting quality. But are the inexpensive dishes good value? Well, the minced chicken with pine nuts in sesame pockets (RMB 38) was inconsistent; the first pocket tasted rather stale, while the second was fresh and crispy. That said, the snow cabbage with soybeans and beancurd sheets (RMB 22) was well-flavored, though the beans were overcooked. Our favorite dish, baked-pork puffs with Sichuan sauce (RMB 12, three pieces) was exceptionally good. Overall, the meal’s preparation and presentation were simple and classic, allowing the flavors to speak for themselves. This restaurant will meet, but perhaps not exceed, your expectations of mid-priced Shanghainese cuisine. Lynn |
