Enjoy the original concept

Another month, another opening - since its redevelopment, Nanluoguxiang has become a breeding ground for new bars and cafes, spawning Zuihonglou early last month.
Specializing in Taiwanese snacks and drinks, an original concept in itself, what could be an original angle for the bar is limited to the menu. Take that away and all that is left is an unremarkable venue, lacking the quirky originality that made the likes of Pass By, Xiao Xing and Sandglass such hits. The decor is, at best, hastily conceived. A photomontage documenting the manager's motorcycle feats occupies the wall space, contrasting uneasily with the bar's mock-teak furnishings. However, friendly service and reasonable prices raise Zuihonglou just above the threshold of mediocrity, though mediocrity is a word fast becoming synonymous with Nanluoguxiang's more recent offerings.
