Out-of-this-world fun(cityweekend)
Updated: 2007-02-01 10:27 Syzygy is the configuration of the sun, the moon, and Earth lying in a straight line. And this is what this restaurant does - aligns restaurant, bakery and bar all across a stretch of open space that invites schmoozing and playing for both kids and adults. With our order from the lunch menu (RMB45), which includes soup, salad, dessert and a drink, came a less-creamier-than-usual bowl of pumpkin soup. Next came a refreshing pear salad (RMB48) to share - a clever combination of pear and greens, drizzled with a tangy vinaigrette. Although the feta crumbles over the salad were a bit too "goaty" for our taste, it was a crisp lead to the main dish: ravioli of duck and goat cheese with mushroom, spinach and garlic cream. We can see ourselves parked there for a good few hours, tapping away at our keyboard while staring off into space inspired by the décor of cutesy red aliens. So for that, a trek to "Outer Pudongland" is well worth it. |
