The morning of Shanghai(noblesse.com)Updated: 2006-11-22 09:58 In 1846 a baroque-style Victorian building was built on the Bund, on the east side of Garden Bridge. The Astor House Hotel has now reached a new page in its 160 year history as the Morning Shanghai restaurant. On entering the building there is the vaulting red-brick ceiling, a European-style dome and impressive chandelier. The pillars in the lobby are replicas of the originals, and the antiques by the stairs recall times long past. Morning Shanghai's attention to the authenticity of its dishes and the general ambience makes it suitable for those more advanced in years to enjoy the dining experience and reminisce, while younger guests will find it a great place for a romantic engagement.
