A nice place for afternoon teas(City Weekend)
Updated: 2006-10-02 12:01 Stepping into Bakerzin is a bit like falling down the rabbit hole. Giant purple lampshades hang from the ceiling and sprout like mushrooms from the wall. The kitchen serves afternoon tea with cakes and pastries. Indeed, Bakerzin seems fit for the Mad Hatter's tea party. Thus you might feel like you were truly in Wonderland if it weren't so noticeable that the restaurant is inside Raffles City. Bakerzin is completely open to the mall, which works to attract passerbys, but detracts from the atmosphere once inside. However, if you are stranded in Raffle's and in need of something substantial, the menu offers soups, salads, pizzas, sandwiches and entrees. The Steak and Mushroom Panini at RMB 52 is a delicious choice with melted gruyere cheese and juicy mushrooms. The Waffle Ice Cream (RMB 46) was disappointing, so instead top off the meal with their signature dessert, the Warm Chocolate Cake (RMB 48), a decadent concoction filled with Valrhona chocolate and topped with orange confit. |
