New York City deliBy Courtney Woo (City Weekend)
Updated: 2006-09-12 11:43 New York City is the word of the month amongst the city's sandwich circles. This new downtown deli promises hefty servings of American-caliber meat. All in all, it pretty much delivers (and also to your office). The servings of ham, pastrami and turkey were hefty as promised (100 to 160 grams per serving, 42-50). The warm roast beef sandwich came with thick cuts of meat topped with melted Swiss cheese and grilled onions. A few words of warning: They haven't quite mastered the bread and were too liberal with the mayo. We ordered twice. The first time, the sourdough required jaws of steel. The second time, the wheat slices were soggy. Should they perfect their toasting techniques and behave more conservatively with the sauces, this New York-style sandwich joint could become a Shanghai favorite. New York City |
