Up front: toast of the townBest for People Watching - Suzie Wong's

Suzie Wong's is our winner for two

years running. "It's always fun for me to see groups of people around their tables posing [with] various gestures," says one regular. Another compliments its "large terrace" and "spacious alcoves with beds" offering "plenty of places to sit back and watch the flirting on that small dance floor."
Runners-up - Browns, Maggie's

Editor's Pick - Centro
Whether you're there to schmooze or simply booze, Centro is the place where you will feel dozens of eyeballs scanning you from head to toe as you walk in past the hostess stand – definitely not the place for laying low, but our prime pick for the "see-and-be-seen" set.

Best New Bar & Club - Browns

"It's in a great location and it's a refreshing change to all the older places that just look worn out these days," exclaims one punter, who obviously can't get enough of looking up girls'skirts when they dance on the bar. Fair enough.

Runners-up - D-22, Frank's Place

Editor's Pick - Area
Designed by artist owner Yang Dong, Area is sleek and chic with billowing white drapes veiling the beds where Beijing’s beautiful people recline in the lounge bar Beijing has long been waiting for.

Best After-Hours Club - Suzie Wong's

Renaissance man Colin Saunders chose Suzie's as Best After-Hours Club for the variety it affords its patrons: "It gets my vote because it combines a variety of different settings under one roof. You can relax on the terrace, or have a chat upstairs at the bar, or act like an idiot on the dance floor."
Runners-up - Bed, Maggie's

Editor's Pick - The Den
What is it about The Den? The affordable food? No one passing judgment when you order a Tsingtao at 6am? The chance to dance with inexplicably friendly Russian ladies? Whatever the reason, The Den’s seedy atmosphere makes it our first stop after a Beijing all-nighter.

Best Hotel Bar - Centro

Readers gush over the "atmosphere, cocktails and wine selection," not to mention the music and the vibe … all of which make "a great combination," envied and mimicked by other hotel bars. But there is still only one Centro.
Runners-up - Aria, Redmoon

Editor's Pick - Press Club Bar
The Press Club Bar is the best of both worlds: top-shelf cocktails, tasty bar snacks and attentive service is as you would expect from a hotel bar. And with leather chairs and the dark wood interior providing just the right balance of class and intimacy, it's as comfortable as your neighborhood hangout spot.

Best Sports Bar - Goose & Duck Pub

It's got "lots of staff." It's got "two levels, so you can choose your atmosphere." But most importantly, "it has a lot of screens." No matter how crowded it is, you're not going to miss the game.

Runners-up - Club Football, Pavillion

Editor's Pick - Frank's Place
It's all about the outdoor screen – it's so huge and the picture is so good, it really is like being at the game. If there's a cloudburst, the indoor screen is pretty good too. And their draft Bitburger just might be the best beer in Beijing.
