For the DJ obsessedBy Wendy Mock (City Weekend)
Updated: 2006-07-31 11:24 Kandi Klub hopes to become the destination for Beijing's hippest and hottest clubophiles. This ambition contrasts starkly with the stuffiness of the Great Wall Sheraton Hotel, which it calls home. But the promoters are counting on great music to lure the scantily clad and fun thirsty folks away from other, more obvious venues. The fact that the club is supported by UK music label Hed Kandi promises an impressive lineup of international DJs. The venue itself, however, looks like another in the capital's long line of showy dance clubs with the requisite flashing lights, LCD displays and upstairs lounge area overlooking a dance floor. But if you're into the Babyface-esque ambiance, go in, dance and enjoy some cocktails. After a few of their strong concoctions, you'll be grateful for the location. The hotel's bellhops will kindly help you hail a cab so you won't have to stumble down the street. Kandi Klub |
