DJ Rap(That's Beijing)
Updated: 2006-07-03 09:43 DJ Rap (aka Charissa Saverio) chose her asexual stage name so as not to suffer the prejudice of a male-dominated industry, though it would be unfair to attribute her success to her pseudonym. Spinning anything she could get her hands on – house, techno, breakbeat, hip hop, drum & bass – Rap developed her reputation on the London circuit to a point where The Astoria could book her as a crowd-pleasing stand-in for Fabio. High profile gigs soon attracted the attention of Sony's Higher Ground, which led to albums Learning Curve and Bulletproof, as well as a number of singles that have wooed the mainstream – her single "Bad Girl" was perhaps the only redeeming feature of the film Enough. Easy on the eye, perhaps, but it'll be Rap's hard breakbeats that'll see Mix moving at the beginning of July. Time: Midnight |
