Uneven Studio and Bar (City Weekend) Updated: 2006-05-23 09:26
Sometimes concept bars work, sometimes they don't.
With a great location at the edge of the Guanghua Lu embassy district, one
gets the impression that Uneven Photo Studio and Bar is still a work in
progress.
It's the brainchild of two young Chinese guys - the bar's name is a play on
their own nicknames, Xiao Ao and Xiao Tu (ao tu meaning uneven in Chinese).
Compact, comfortable and cosmopolitan, Uneven has the potential to become a
Bohemian oasis for those of an artistic inclination.
The small yet stylish prints of Beijing adorning the walls pay testament to
Xiao Tu's photographic talent.
The modest menu includes tasty burgers and pizzas and the drinks list is
reasonably priced (RMB 20-40). The slightly cramped interior is complemented by
a grassy outdoor area with tables and parasols - ideal for those balmy Beijing
summer evenings.
