Japanese: Ten Shang Restaurant (CityWeekend) Updated: 2006-04-24 10:25
Purple and green paper lanterns light the way through the spacious,
semi-private rooms. Neat, swift-hipped waiters in snug black t-shirts bring
gleaming Shabu Shabu copper pots to well-polished Shanghai locals.
The crabmeat salad (RMB 28) proves delectable and fresh, as does the
vegetable platter (RMB 68), which is stocked with an assortment of spinach,
mushrooms, corn, tofu, rice noodles and tomato. The seafood platter (RMB 128)
spills over with gorgeous cuts of salmon and tuna, crab legs, oyster and shrimp.
Perhaps most delightful, however, is their wide variety of tasty beef (RMB
128-RMB 328), which melts in the mouth.
Ten Shang's only real shortcoming is that it's a difficult place to find.
After experiencing it once, however, the memorable impact will navigate a smooth
return.
